The MusicBiz Week in Review 10/5/12

Welcome back to our 1770 Records guest blog from the College of Charleston Arts Management Department!  This week, we offer advice on how to keep up with emerging tech trends, like Instagram, to stay connected to fans and promote your music.

So we all know about the importance of Facebook and Twitter in marketing independent music, but Instagram is emerging as a new, popular social networking format.  Here’s the proof.  It’s also pretty darn fun to use.

Don’t have a website, or need to improve your website? Looking for a free option?  Well, Fractured Atlas has released a free version of their Artful.ly OSE v1.0, a quick, easy, and inexpensive cloud-based web application. The program offers a range of basic options as well as detailed, one-of-a-kind programming to improve your website.

Have MySpace, but slow site traffic? Try the Google Music Artist’s Hub!

Thanks for reading this week, and we hope these articles will be useful tools for amping up your music promotion!
